Fans Make Bold Declaration About Counting Crows’ ‘90s Sad Boy Version’ of a Taylor Swift Song

Taylor Swift and Counting Crows fans alike are falling in love with the band’s cover of one of the record-breaking Eras Tour artist’s songs after footage from their performance at Railbird Music Festival in Lexington, Ky., on Saturday, June 1, went viral on social media.

During their set, singer Adam Duritz sat down at the piano to play and sing while the band performed “The 1,” off of Swift’s first pandemic album, folklore, and TikTokers have some bold thoughts about their “90s sad boy” take—a play on Swift’s “Sad Girl Autumn Version” of “All Too Well”—on the beloved, recently-cut Eras Tour track

It sparked a small debate over songwriting, leading one person to add, “…even if u dislike Taylor Swift u have to recognize her pen game is lethal”—a sentiment that Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan just doubled down on when he called her “one of the most gifted pop artists of all time.
