King Charles made a heartbreaking plea to his sons for his “final years” amid their ongoing feud.

The monarch has suffered a strained relationship with Harry for several years now – something which the Duke Of Sussex previously opened up about in his memoir Spare. At the time King Charles was not yet unwell with the cancer he is now battling, but Harry referred to him as looking “frail” after his own father Prince Philip’s funeral in April 2021.

At the time, Harry recalled a fiery encounter between himself, his father, and William, as he recalled how he had “tried to explain my side of things,” but wasn’t “at my best.” Harry described how he had been “nervous, fighting to keep my emotions in check, while also striving to be succinct and precise,” during the meeting, he admitted he had “vowed not to let this encounter devolve into another argument.”

Harry then said that not arguing wasn’t solely his decision as he “quickly discovered that it wasn’t up to me.” He went on to describe how “Pa and Willy had their parts to play, and they’d come ready for a fight”. Harry claimed that every time he “ventured a new explanation, started a new line of thought, one or both of them would cut me off.”

He then pointed the finger at his brother in particular as he described how the arguing spiralled out of control: “Willy in particular didn’t want to hear anything”. Harry continued that his brother “shut me down several times, he and I began sniping, saying some of the same things we’d said for months – years,” and that it “got so heated that Pa raised his hands. Enough!”

He then detailed the heartbreaking plea Charles issued to his sons as he attempted to break up their frantic arguing. He wrote: “He stood between us, looking up at our flushed faces: Please, boys – don’t make my final years a misery. His voice sounded raspy, fragile. It sounded, if I’m being honest, old.”

Despite Charles’ plea, the father and son have now been caught in a bitter feud for years, with Harry failing to reunite with his father during his latest trip to the UK. It’s believed the Duke of Sussex had hoped to see his father, but the monarch was too busy. Harry’s relationship with his brother also remains in tatters.
