Mecole Hardman is back with the Chiefs on a one-year deal after making the Super Bowl-winning catch last year. He’s in pursuit of his fourth Super Bowl win with Kansas City and recently revealed why he wanted to return to the organization that drafted him.
According to The Kansas City Star, Hardman pointed to his strong relationship with head coach Andy Reid as a major factor in coming back.
He’s now the longest-tenured WR on the roster and his veteran leadership is already on full display with the Chiefs holding mandatory minicamp this week.
Reid sang Hardman’s praises and the former second-round pick’s familiarity with the offense goes a long way. Referring to Reid, Hardman said, ““I think he’s got a great idea of how to put me on the field and get me some targets or opportunities.”
He also spoke about his knowledge of the offense, continuing, “I ain’t got to relearn nothing (with the playbook). I know everything already. So it’s more comfortable.”
While Hardman finished the regular season with just 15 catches for 124 yards, he saved his best work for the playoffs. Hardman caught three passes for 57 yards and the aforementioned TD in the Super Bowl, securing his place in Kansas City lore forever
